Hargaysa- In analysis published by Hiraal Security Institute, there is growing rift between Somalia’s ISIS and Al-Shabab due to clan factors. Ogadeen tribe believes that Al-Shabab poses threat to them because the Jihadists are mainly one clan of Hawiye, their enemy tribe.
The analytical report says that the Ogadeen tribe has grievances following arbitrary arrests, and execution of their men committed by Al- Shabab. The tribe often don’t see eye to eye with the Al-Shabab but rather with ISIS. Ogadeen occupied the Jubbland autonomy and being sub clan of Daarood had long term hostility with Hawiye tribe who dominates the Somalia’s political power structures.
Released man from Kunyo Barrow, Al-Shabab run prison told that the inmates of 15 out of 20 were Ogadeen whom mistreated while he released
The Hawiye prisoner was given a better food than other inmates, and was treated well and received $ 1,000 for the mistaken arrest, while the other prisoners received only 300 if they get the luck to be released, according to the report of the Institute.

On the other hand, Ali Dabar, the Ogaden senior intelligence official in Al-Shabaab, was head of 500 of Jihadist fighters was fired and his unit were dismantled, after the he was accused of loyalty towards ISIS.

His forces, most of whom were Ethiopian and Ethiopian Somali tribes living in Ethiopia, so where their loyalty lies in question. To prevent defection, Al-Shabab redistributed to various units

The slow erosion of Al-Shabab’s legitimacy after being labelled single-tribe based advocacy and interest hub mayn’t lead to its demise.
