Poet Weedhsame Protested Against Somalia’s Occupation of Somaliland’s Airspace

Hargeisa—Poet Weedhsame composed a poem critical to the president’s policy in regard to the recently signed contract with Somalia to run Somaliland’s airspace. “My nation’s death came as a great shock” he in his tweet account. Weedhsame’s poem portrayed how money beaten SNM veterans particularly Muse Biihi Abdi while bullets couldn’t subjugate him. He said Muse’s love of cash is far exceed any other love of his country.

Poet Weedhsame, expresses the wishes of the people via poem and has been critical to the outgone president Silaanyo but none of the predecessor presidents ever arrested him.   During Muse’s reign, Weedhsame, a man of integrity and nationalism faced cancellation of his poetry shows in Berbera.

Would this new poem critical to the shadow contract that violated Somaliland’s “sovereignty” ever endanger his life? Will he be arrested without due process? Somalilanders think the poet free from clannish dogma that killed many youth poets who align with tribal leaders no matter.

Silaanyo’s clannish poets never opposed his corrupt regime during the peak of wholesale of ports and public buildings even of some them applauded. they were complicit in the looting crime.

Weedhsame poet didn’t speak of clannish threats or arrest yet. Will be silenced for financial incentives? His audience think he is  a man of moral judgement.
