The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, on Sunday met the representatives of the flood relief volunteers in some of the Somali regions and the Somali community living in Kenya at Villa Somalia.
The President heard from the members of the Somali community, religious scholars, businessmen and youth, about the humanitarian response of the Somali people to the flood victims in may towns across central and southern Somalia.
Sheikh Mohamed Abdi Umal, who led the committee of the Somali Community in Kenya’s flood emergency response team, thanked the President for the conveying a meeting with them and shared the commitment of the Somali community and business persons in Kenya.
For their part, State level representatives from the Puntland state of Somalia emergency response service spoke at the meeting expressing the brotherhood and support of the communities in the Puntland state to their brothers affected by the floods.
The National Flood Emergency Committee formed by the federal government of Somalia shared a report on government-led efforts to deal with this disaster, the situation of local people and national plans for sustainable flooding issues with voluntary committees who visited the president at the presidential palace.
