

Hargeisa (Somalilanddaily)- Organised by the Ministry of Communication and Technology, ICT conference started yesterday in Hargeisa.
Vice-president Abdirahman Sayli opened the two days long conference.
Government agencies, private sector and civil society organisations attended the Information and Communication Technology Conference which “aims to bring together academics as well as industrial practitioners, to share their most recent research, practical solutions and experiences and to discuss the trends, opportunities and challenges in the field of ICT,” according to Ali Dahir, the Director-General of the Ministry of Communication and Technology.
“It’s my pleasure to lead this first ICT conference in Somaliland. We anticipate this conference to yield fruitful result in producing the regulations needed to foster the technology in Somaliland”. Dr Abdiwali Soufi, the Minister of Communication and Technology said in his opening remarks.
The conference is expected to found Somaliland ICT Society and the Ministry would like to facilitate, the Minister added.

In panels, the participants will continue discussing ICT issues in Somaliland.
