Three mortar shells landed near the presidential palace Tuesday afternoon but no casualties reported yet.
An eye witness near the scene told Hiiraanonline the shells whose origin could not be immediately established landed at neighborhoods bordering Villa Somalia at about 1 pm.
According to the eyewitness, one mortar shell hit an area near the Ethiopian embassy.
There are no reports yet of any casualties in the attack.
The militant group Al-Shabab which was uprooted from Mogadishu in 2011 has conducted such attacks aimed at the President’s official residence in Mogadishu.
The government has not commented on the incident
