Young Somali coach shortlisted for the Future Stars program

Two community football coaches, one male, and one female will attend the exclusive “Future Stars” training programme in Arsenal.

Nairobi (Somaliland.com) – A Somali football coach in Nairobi is amongst 8 finalists who could win a chance to train with Arsenal development coaches in London because of his community programme of coaching kids.

In celebration of WorldRemit extending their relationship with Arsenal, the two are once again offering two coaches from Africa or the Americas the opportunity to attend an exclusive training programme with Arsenal football development coaches in London.

WorldRemit will sponsor two winners, one male and one female, to fly to London and undertake the personalised coaching programme with Arsenal Football Development coaches.

The program intends to highlight and celebrate the positive impact that grassroots football coaches have on the young people they train.

Feisal Abdi Hassan coaches Maroon Starlets F.C based in Kenya’s capital Nairobi.

He was a professional footballer until he suffered a bad knee injury where he was sidelined for 7 months. By the time he returned, his team had fallen into financial problems.

Instead, he began to coach the local boys and girls, taking them away from the crime-infested streets and onto the football pitch.

As seen in a video posted on Worldremit website the local girls Feisal coaches are proud of their coach.

If Feisal secures to win the Future Stars coaches competition, he will be in history as the first Somali to do so and will fly to London and undertake the personalised coaching programme with Arsenal Football Development coaches.
