Akram Afif, a Somali-Qatari player, has been hugely praise by Somali fans who have taken to social media on Friday in their reaction to his outstanding performance led his Qatari side win its first Asian Cup (AFC 2019) against Japan.

“Akram Afif, the son of former Somali national football team player, Hassan Afif makes Qatar and Somalia proud,” wrote Mohammed Kahiye in a Facebook post shortly after the end of the match.
“Congrats to Qatar and Somalia for winning 2019 Asian cup, we are all Akram Afif,” tweeted Hassan Istiila.
“Looking forward to your visit home in Mogadishu, our son,” he added.
Afif senior played for the national team between 1972 to 1980 before migrating to Qatar for soccer talent.
