Police officer, Mohamed Hussein, has confirmed that 39 civilians lost their lives following the suicide bombings that happened yesterday afternoon in Mogadishu.
Among those killed is the owner of Sahafi hotel, Abdifatah Abdirashid, who took over the management of the hotel after his father was killed in a similar attack.
Dozens of people were injured and rushed to hospital while a number of civilians are still missing. There are fears that the death toll could rise.
United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia has condemned these attacks carried out by the al-Shabab militia group.
