Hargaysa –11, October, 2018— amid stifling economic hardship of hyperinflation and diplomatic impasse, Somaliland held a grand conference on the theme of 27 years old achievements and challenges including those unresolved such as the recognition that all-time elusive. The gathering attracted from people from all over the continent and beyond.
His Excellency, Muse Bihi Abdi has delivered his speech with remarkable remarks “Somaliland plays a significant role in the peace and security of the region by spending resources on it.” The notable participants were new to Somaliland. Greg Mills from the UK said that the world shouldn’t reward the losers by anyway referring to the failed Somalia but pay attention Somaliland who built a nation without prior legacy to build on.
Amina Hirsi Moge Kenyan-born industrialist and investor in Uganda with Somaliland origin called Somalis to clear off their name’s image. Being Somali disadvantaged her she said. She was called Al-Shabab despite born in Kenya but for having grandparents from Somaliland.
The grand conference ended with one familiar call to the sane world to reconsider Somaliland with sane eyes that Somaliland earned their respect and it met legal merits that defines statehood.
